December was spent enjoying some snow, holiday sho December was spent enjoying some snow, holiday shopping, crafting, being cozy at home by watching TV and doing tons of puzzles, holiday baking (how did I not get any cookie photos?!), and enjoying our Christmas holiday. I know the New Year is here but December sped by so quickly I can't believe it's gone!

When we lose the weight. When things calm down. When the house is less messy.

But one day, these will be the photos you reach for. Not to see perfection, but to remember the love. đź’›

The beautiful thing—and the hardest thing—abou The beautiful thing—and the hardest thing—about photography is that it remains when those we love no longer do.

We drove to say goodbye to Lexi yesterday, and this morning my mom said her final goodbye. She’d been fighting cancer for over a year, but things had been declining these last few months. In August she became a hospice patient, and on Sunday things took a turn she couldn’t come back from.

Scroll to see baby Lexi and Harper—two best friends, now reunited. I bought my first DSLR when I got Harper and had no idea what I was doing—but I learned, frame by frame, because I wanted to hold on to moments like these.

Give my dad a smooch, Lexi girl.

Did you blink and suddenly it's November and you t Did you blink and suddenly it's November and you totally forgot to do family photos?

Or maybe you didn't exactly forget but life was crazy and you didn't have the time or bandwidth to think about getting them scheduled? I feel you there. September and October were two of the craziest, most stressful months for my family.

So maybe we both might have a bright spot: you didn't schedule photos but I still have spots left for my Tree Farm Minis next Sunday! Click the link in my bio to book before the last spots get snatched up!

This is *three* !
On Wednesday, a force of a woman died. Other than On Wednesday, a force of a woman died.
Other than my parents, she was the single most influential person in my upbringing.

My Granny was a paradox — equal parts warmth and wildfire.
She was deeply flawed, often wrong, and stubborn as they come. She loved her family fiercely, though not always in the ways we wanted to be loved.

Two things can be true: she could drive me absolutely crazy and still be one of the people I loved most in the world.

I’ll miss her oatmeal, her garden, her stories, and even her certainty that she was always right.

Hey, you did it!

This is my test popup so you can see what it’s going to look like when you find a clue.

You did it! Now let's submit that entry!

Hooray!!

You finished the scavenger hunt and submitted your results to me!!

You’re getting close! 👏

Somewhere on my site, a cat is hiding in plain sight. Can you find the photo?

Tip: if you’re on a cell phone or tablet, tap and hold once you find the cat to reveal the next clue.

Oops!

Yeah, yeah. I know this technically answers the question to clue #3 but you’re going to have to find it somewhere else to get clue #4.

📸 You’re halfway there—woohoo!

Where do I photograph families?

WOOO! One clue down!

Congrats on finding the first clue!

Here’s clue #2: Golden hour is a photographer’s dream. In Lexington, how long does it last?
